Candace Marsella is a Chicago-based jewelry designer and graduate of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Her passion for jewelry began in childhood, working in her family’s antique store and alongside manufacturers, where she developed an early appreciation for craftsmanship and history.

After nearly a decade in the auction world, a pivotal moment in New York City inspired her to fully dedicate herself to design. In 2004, she founded Smashing Jewels — a collection that reflects the intersection of gemological science, estate jewelry heritage, and contemporary artistry.

Each piece is thoughtfully designed and hand-fabricated using traditional wire-working and bench techniques in sterling silver and 14k gold-filled or solid gold. Candace carefully selects fine natural gemstones for their integrity, character, and beauty, allowing each stone to guide the design.

Her work honors the inherent elegance of natural materials while creating jewelry that feels timeless, wearable, and deeply personal.
